Release Notes
The release notes provide information about new features in focusMT.
V25.01 (Strategy Alignment), 15 May 2025
Guiding Principles
Guiding Principles can be used in focusMT to succinctly describe the identity and core beliefs of organisations, laying the foundation for strategic planning. The elements of a guiding principle are: Purpose (Why do we exist?), Vision (What do we want to be in the long term?), Mission (How do we get there?), and Values (How do we want to work together?). Although guiding principles are typically formulated only for the top-level organisational unit (and thus implicitly apply to all units), the elements can also be applied at lower structural levels if needed.
Strategic Areas of Action
For each organisational unit, one or more strategies can be defined in focusMT. Strategies have a time frame (usually spanning several years) and consist of strategic domains and strategic areas of action, which can be defined within focusMT. All strategic areas of action can be actively tracked with actions and reviews. In addition, goals, KPIs, and projects can be linked to each strategic area of action to illustrate and make transparent complex interrelationships.
Error Handling
For all errors in display and input dialogues, specific error messages with helpful hints are now shown. Each message includes a unique error number so that the support team can quickly identify and resolve the issue.
Structure Displays (TreeViews)
All treeviews now include a search function to quickly find elements. After entering a search term, the tree expands to reveal the matching results for easy access. Additionally, the treeviews now feature new icons for each object type and folder and have been visually compressed to better handle large trees.
UX Monitoring
Several user suggestions have been implemented in the monitoring section:
- Consistent display of KPI visualisations
- Display of target values as a continuous line
- More compact display of all visual elements
- Consistent formatting of all KPI values with defined decimal places and thousand separators (based on user culture) in all charts and tables
- Automatic distribution of planned and target values
- Correct calculation of forecast and aggregated values for plan, actual, and forecast data
- Unified headers in all input and display forms

Move Modal Dialogues
All modal input or display forms (popups) can now be moved across the screen, allowing users to still view information from the background form.
My focusMT
We have added a new menu item My focusMT to the navigation bar. Here, logged-in users can view the measures assigned to them under My Measures and the responsibilities assigned to them for strategies, targets and KPIs under My Responsibilities. To edit these, you can jump directly to the assigned objects from here.
KPI units and decimal places
KPI units and the number of decimal places for entering and displaying key figures can now be entered directly in KPI management for each KPI. KPI units can be selected from existing units in KPI management or redefined directly in the entry modal. By entering the decimal places, you can display a unit (e.g. EUR) with different decimal places for different KPIs.
Traffic light definition
For each KPI, you specify whether high values (e.g. turnover) or low values (e.g. error rate) should be achieved. Alternatively, you can also choose not to select a rating if it is not relevant for the KPI. This allows you to clearly mark all deviations (e.g. actual/plan) in red or green. An additional yellow traffic light can be defined optionally if you want to visualise the borderline between red and green.
Optimisation of deviation analysis
The new traffic light definition has a direct impact on deviation and change analysis and ensures a very clear presentation of the YTD (year-to-date) deviation between actual and planned/target values and the annual deviation between forecast and planned/target values. Deviations marked in red highlight KPIs that require action, and you can jump directly to the KPI details for a more in-depth analysis.
